ABOUT THE EMMAUS CENTER

The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching helps Christians encounter Scripture through teaching, formation, and pilgrimage so that faith may be understood more deeply, remembered more clearly, and lived more faithfully.

THE EMMAUS STORY

Opening the Scriptures, Opening the Journey

When Jesus joined two disciples on the road to Emmaus, they did not immediately recognize Him. As they walked together, He opened the Scriptures and revealed how the story of God’s redemption pointed to Himself. Their understanding deepened, their hearts were stirred, and their eyes were ultimately opened to Christ.

The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching draws its inspiration from this encounter. We believe that Scripture is not merely information to be studied, but the living story through which God forms faith and discipleship. Through teaching, reflection, and shared journeys, we seek to help Christians encounter that story more deeply and carry it more faithfully into daily life.

Like the disciples on the Emmaus road, we continue to walk, learn, and discover Christ through the unfolding witness of Scripture.

OUR MISSION

Teaching Scripture.

Deepening Understanding.

Guiding the Journey.

The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching exists to help Christians encounter Scripture more deeply through teaching, formation, and pilgrimage.

Through courses, study programs, and guided journeys, we seek to open the biblical story in ways that engage both the mind and the heart. Our goal is not simply to provide information, but to cultivate a deeper understanding of God’s work in Scripture and a more faithful response in daily life.

Whether through a classroom, a small group, or a pilgrimage route, the Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching invites people to continue the journey of learning, discovery, and discipleship.

OUR VISION

Helping Christians understand Scripture more deeply, remember it more clearly, and live it more faithfully.

We envision a community of Christians who engage Scripture not only as a source of knowledge, but as a living witness to God’s work in the world.

Through study, reflection, and pilgrimage, we seek to cultivate habits of attentive reading, thoughtful discipleship, and faithful practice. By connecting biblical learning with lived experience, we hope to help individuals, churches, and communities discover the enduring relevance of Scripture for everyday life.

The journey of faith does not end with understanding. It continues as God’s people remember, embody, and live the story they have received.

THE CALLING BEHIND THE CENTER

A ministry rooted in Scripture, teaching, and pilgrimage

The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching emerged from a conviction that Scripture is best understood not only through study, but through lived encounter.

For many years, Dr. Randy Furushima has taught the Bible in classrooms, churches, and pilgrimage settings, helping students discover the historical, theological, and spiritual depth of the biblical story. Through these experiences, he observed that learning becomes more memorable when it is connected to place, community, and faithful reflection.

The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching brings together these dimensions of teaching and formation. Its courses provide opportunities for careful engagement with Scripture, while its pilgrimages invite participants to encounter the landscapes, cultures, and historical settings that shaped the biblical narrative.

The goal is not simply to transfer knowledge, but to create opportunities for Christians to grow in understanding, deepen their faith, and continue their journey of discipleship.
