Leadership in Service of the Mission
The Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching is guided by a Board of Directors whose members bring experience in ministry, leadership, education, finance, and organizational service. Together they help ensure that the Center remains faithful to its mission of forming disciples through Scripture, theology, and pilgrimage.

The members of the Board serve alongside the Center’s teaching ministry by offering guidance, accountability, professional expertise, and prayerful support. Though their backgrounds differ, they share a common commitment to helping others engage Scripture with greater depth, clarity, and faithfulness.

Dr. Randy Furushima
Founder & Director
Dr. Randy Furushima founded the Emmaus Center for Biblical Teaching to help Christians engage Scripture with greater depth, clarity, and faithfulness. Through teaching, mentoring, and pilgrimage leadership, he has devoted his ministry to biblical formation within the life of the Church.

Sanford Tom
President & Board Chair
Sanford Tom brings decades of leadership experience from an international career with Procter & Gamble. His work across Asia and the United States developed strengths in strategic leadership, communication, and organizational development. As Board President, he helps guide the Center’s mission, governance, and long-term direction.

Francis Miyazawa
Treasurer
Francis Miyazawa brings nearly forty years of experience in finance, administration, and organizational leadership through Hawaiian Electric Company and Hawai‘i’s credit union community. As Treasurer, he provides financial stewardship and governance oversight, helping support the ministry through sound management and faithful accountability.
Supporting the Work of Emmaus
The Board’s work extends beyond organizational oversight. Through stewardship, planning, financial accountability, and strategic guidance, its members help create the conditions that allow biblical teaching, spiritual formation, and pilgrimage ministry to thrive.
Their service enables the Center to continue equipping Christians to read Scripture more deeply, remember it more clearly, and live it more faithfully.
